Mahjong Dogs replaces the bamboo and character suits with portraits of dog breeds, and keeps the layout rule that decides every classic board: a tile can be lifted only when its left or right edge is clear. Lof Games built it in 2022 as a simplified version of the format, so the stacks are shallower than a full turtle and the pairing is more forgiving than a traditional set. A clock runs down while you hunt for the next pair, and it is the clock rather than the layout that ends most sessions. Saved seconds are not wasted, though. Whatever time is left when the last two dogs disappear is converted into bonus points, and so is every hint you did not spend.
