Pandjohng Solitaire

Pandjohng Solitaire is the odd one on the shelf: the board is dealt in cards rather than tiles, and the move you make is the solitaire one. Any card on the layout sitting one value above or below the card at the bottom of the window can be taken, and taking it makes it the new target.

That single rule builds runs. A well-read layout lets you climb four or five cards in a chain before the sequence dies, and when nothing on the board fits you flip the next card from the deck — which is the resource you are really managing, because a level is lost when the deck is exhausted and cards remain. A second stacked layout here is Everyday.

bestphysics stacked eighty levels behind it, one panda released per level, and stocked the layouts with jokers, including a joker for each suit. Clicking the pandas themselves scores points and starts a strike bonus, while a timer tracks how long the run has taken against a Chinese-styled backdrop. Butterfly Kyodai HD was filed here for the same reason.

The 2022 build is 1280 by 720, takes touch input, and reads much better with the full screen toggle on, since the card values in the upper rows are small. Solitaire Mahjong Farm belongs to the same easy-going list.

1. Look at the card at the bottom of the window — that is your current value.
2. Take any exposed card on the layout that is one value higher or lower.
3. Chain as many of those as you can before the run dies.
4. Flip a card from the deck when nothing on the board fits.
5. Clear the layout before the deck runs out to free that level's panda.

• Look for the long chain — a sequence of five cards costs one deck flip instead of five.
• Guard the deck — running out of cards with the layout half standing is how a level ends.
• Spend jokers on jams — the suit jokers are worth most when a single card is blocking the run.
• Click the pandas — they earn points and feed the strike bonus alongside the cards.
• Go full screen — eighty levels of small card corners are much easier to read enlarged.
