Mahjong Around The World Africa opens a travel series on the African continent, and it gives the clearing job a reason: ten African animals are held behind the tiles, and emptying the field sets them free. The 2021 build from bestphysics runs its layouts in the vivid palette that goes with the theme.

Every level carries its own time limit, and that constraint shapes how the board is played. There is no browsing here — the pairs already visible are the ones to take, and a minute spent hunting one specific animal is a minute the countdown keeps. The Summer layout sits on the same shelf of gentler boards.

Two aids sit beside the field. Prompts point out a pair that can legally be taken, and tiles can be swapped, which is a rarer tool than the usual reshuffle: it moves a single piece rather than redealing everything. Used at the right moment a swap rescues a layout that has one tile in the wrong place. Next to it in the same group is the Link grid.

How to Play

Scan the field for two tiles carrying the same African motif.
Select both to remove them from the board.
Keep an eye on the level clock — each stage has its own limit.
Clear the whole field to release the ten animals held behind it.
Call a prompt when you are stuck, or swap a tile to break a jam.

Move fast on visible pairs — the per-level clock rewards the obvious match over the elegant one.
Save the swap for a jam — moving one piece is worth far more than spending it while easy pairs remain.
Use prompts sparingly — spending them early costs you the score they would protect later.
Peel the upper tiles — the animals underneath stay locked until the pieces on top are taken.
Turn on full screen — the African patterns are close cousins at native size and separate cleanly enlarged.
