Mahjong Slidon

Mahjong Slidon does not ask you to pick tiles off a stack — it asks you to push them. Choose a tile, choose a direction, and it travels horizontally or vertically until it strikes another; if that other tile is its twin, both vanish. The field is flat, everything is visible from the start, and the difficulty lies entirely in the routes. Next to it in the same group is the Jewel Quest board.

The faces are zodiac signs and numbers, which keeps the pairs readable while the geometry does the work. No clock runs on this board, but there is a move budget: the number of slides is limited, so a shove that leaves a tile stranded in a corner is a mistake you pay for several turns later. An undo is provided for exactly that reason. Mahjong Dynasty is catalogued beside this board.

The game dates from 2006 and is a Flash-era build for desktop browsers, driven with the mouse alone. Full screen helps more than usual, because you are tracking a tile across the whole field rather than looking at one square, and the zodiac symbols are drawn small. Nothing needs registering before the first slide. From the same group, there is also the Crystal Connect board.

1. Pick a tile and choose the direction to send it — up, down, left or right.
2. The tile slides until it meets another; a collision between two identical zodiac faces clears both.
3. Plan the order of your pushes, since the number of moves allowed is limited.
4. Undo a slide that leaves a tile stranded, then clear what remains of the field.

• Look along the line, not at the tile — a slide in Mahjong Slidon ends wherever the first obstacle stands.
• Corners are traps — a tile pushed into one can only be reached from two directions afterwards.
• Clear the rare signs first — a zodiac face with a single partner left dictates the whole sequence.
• Treat undo as a tool, not a rescue — it exists to correct a bad direction before the move budget drains.
