Connect The Insects

Twenty-one boards of beetles, moths and their neighbours sit face-up, and a run is over only when the last pair leaves the grid. Mahjong Connect Tips walks through the same rules from the start.

The link rule is the strict onet one: two identical insects join only if the path between them bends no more than twice, which means a tile buried in the middle of a full 800 by 450 layout is often unreachable until the edges thin out. Lof Games puts a clock on each level and pays extra bonus points for finishing before it empties, so speed is worth real score rather than pride. Sweet Connection is matched by path rather than by stack, the same way.

The trap becomes obvious once you have lost a level to it: clearing the easy outside pairs first leaves a dense core with no two-turn route through it. Opening a channel down the middle early is what keeps later matches legal. Escape Link puts the same rule on a board of a different size.

1. Scan the grid for two insects with the same artwork.
2. Check that a path between them turns no more than twice.
3. Click both tiles to remove the pair.
4. Empty the whole board before the level timer runs down to collect the bonus points.
5. Carry on through all 21 levels.

• Cut through the centre — a channel opened early keeps two-turn paths available on a crowded insect grid.
• Two turns, not three — a route with a third bend is rejected, however short it looks.
• Beat the timer — finishing a level early is what earns the extra bonus points.
• Edges are cheap — outer insects keep open routes, so save a few of them for when the middle jams.
