A2Z Connect

A2Z Connect runs on the alphabet rather than on pictures. Matching letters do not simply vanish, they merge, and what comes back is the next letter up, so an A becomes a B and the board climbs towards a Z. The rules written for a first game takes the same rules apart step by step.

That single change turns the usual clearing puzzle into a building one. The goal is not an empty grid but a Z, and every merge is a small decision about where the resulting letter lands and what it can join with next. Letters left scattered around the board are what stalls a run. The list this board belongs to also carries the Animals board.

Three modes set the pace. Easy hands out upgrades readily, while normal and hard make each step up the alphabet work harder for itself, which is where the game asks for planning rather than speed. 1. Pick easy, normal or hard before you start.
2. Find two matching letters on the grid and connect them.
3. Take the merged letter, one step further up the alphabet, and plan where it can join next.
4. Keep merging until a Z appears on the board.

• Merge towards a corner — keeping the high letters of A2Z Connect together stops a stray K sitting alone at the far edge.
• Start on easy — upgrades come quickly there, which is the fastest way to see how far up the alphabet a run can go.
• Think one letter ahead — the merge result matters more than the merge itself, so check what the new letter can pair with.
• Expect the grind on hard — normal and hard hold the upgrades back, and a run there is decided in the middle of the alphabet.
