FGP Mahjong

FGP Mahjong keeps the format plain. Agame supplies a classic solitaire pile matched stone by stone through a long run of levels, with nothing bolted on top of the rules, so the whole game is the two-condition test: nothing resting on the stone, and at least one side free.

Plain does not mean easy. The layouts stack deep enough that the two conditions disagree often — a stone can be uncovered but walled in, or free at the side but pinned from above — and learning to see which of the two is blocking you is most of what improves a run. The Mix pile sits beside this one among the layered boards.

A time limit sits over the level, which is what pushes you to take the pair you have found rather than keep looking for a safer one. A hint and a shuffle cover the two failure states, nothing seen and nothing left, and both are cheaper spent early than in the last twenty stones. Xmas Presents Mahjong uses the matching rule on a differently drawn set.

The 800 by 500 stage is modest for a deep pile, so full screen is the practical setting on a desktop monitor: enlarged, the upper tiers stop hiding the stones they only half cover. The 2017 build takes taps too, and clears the same way on a phone. The same free-tile rule governs the Word board.

Controls

Mouse on desktop, or a tap on each stone on a touchscreen.

How to Play

  1. Find two identical stones, each uncovered from above.
  2. Confirm that at least one side of each stone is free before you select them.
  3. Click the pair to remove it and expose whatever it was covering.
  4. Empty the level before the time limit ends to move on to the next one.
  5. Use the hint when nothing is visible, and the shuffle when nothing legal is left.

Tips & Tricks

  • Name the blocker — decide whether a stone is pinned from above or at the side, because the two need different removals.
  • Dig, do not browse — a deep pile rewards opening the top tiers over collecting easy pairs on the rim.
  • Take the pair you found — the level clock makes a second search more expensive than a plain match.
  • Spend help early — a hint used at the halfway point saves more than one used with twenty stones left.
  • Enlarge the stage — full screen separates the tiers on an 800 by 500 board that stacks higher than it looks.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the rules of FGP Mahjong?

Match two identical stones that have nothing resting on them and at least one free side, until the level is empty.

Is FGP Mahjong timed?

Yes, a limit runs over each level, which is why the pair you have already found is usually the right one to take.

How many levels does FGP Mahjong have?

Many, played one after another, with the layouts stacking deeper as the run continues.

Does FGP Mahjong open in full screen?

It does, and on an 800 by 500 stage that is the easiest way to tell the upper tiers from the stones beneath them.

Can FGP Mahjong be played on a phone?

Yes. Agame built it for the desktop and for mobile, and it takes taps as readily as clicks.
