Sunny Link

Sunny Link builds its boards out of summer icons and asks one question of every pair you spot: can a clear path join them. Two identical tiles disappear when the route linking them is made of three or fewer straight lines, so a pair sitting in plain sight is worthless if the corridor between them has to bend a third time.

Sound is the other half of the game — Lof Games plays the noise of the sea while you hunt, and that steady wash is what you work to rather than a scoreboard. Many levels sit behind the opening beach, and layouts of this kind usually reward clearing the crowded middle first, because tiles near the edge keep their easy two-bend routes for much longer.

Pairs are always two identical tiles rather than two of a set, which turns the whole thing into a search problem: find the twin, then check whether the corridor between them is short enough to be legal. Sunny Link renders at 1280 by 720 and accepts touch as well as a mouse, so the same beach board suits a desktop monitor or a phone turned sideways.

1. Scan the beach board for two tiles carrying the same summer icon.
2. Trace the corridor between them in your head: it may consist of three straight lines at most.
3. Click the first tile, then the second, and the legal pair clears.
4. Keep pairing until the layout is empty, then move on to the next of Sunny Link's many levels.

• Count the bends, not the distance — a tile on the far side of the beach board is fine if the path to it needs only three straight lines.
• Open the middle early — outer summer tiles keep their short routes longest, so spend your easy links on the crowded centre.
• Use the sea as a metronome — that wash of waves is the pacing Sunny Link gives you, so settle into it instead of rushing the scan.
• Sweep by icon, not by area — pick one summer symbol and find every copy of it before your eyes move on.
