Sea Life Mahjong sets its stack underwater: fish, rays, starfish and shells sit where the traditional suits would be, and Lof Games arranged them into a run of levels that tighten as you clear them. The 2021 build is a straight elimination board, with identical tiles leaving in pairs until none remain.
A tile becomes available once a side of it is free, so the practical work is deciding which creature to lift in order to release the ones behind it. Bonuses and power-ups appear as the levels progress, and hints and shuffles cover an arrangement that has stopped offering legal pairs. Classic Deluxe piles the tiles into a different silhouette.
Difficulty is built through density rather than new rules, since the later boards stack the same sea creatures more deeply and reward anyone who keeps the upper layers thin.
