Cakes Mahjong Connect

Cakes Mahjong Connect is a linking board rather than a stacked one. The pieces lie in a single flat layer and a pair clears when the line between them bends no more than twice. Lof Games released it in 2021 with a tray of pastries, eclairs and iced sponges standing in for the traditional suits. The whole list is kept in the Tower shelf.

Two turns is a tight allowance, and it shapes every decision. Pieces sitting directly beside one another are free to take. Pieces separated by a wall of cake need a route that runs around the outside, and the outside only stays open while the border is thin. The clock is the second constraint: a level ends when the tray is empty, and finishing quickly earns extra points rather than simply finishing. Kris Mahjong Remastered sits on the same shelf of gentler boards.

Levels tighten as they go, packing the tray more densely so that fewer routes exist at the start. Full screen helps in a practical way here, because a two-turn path is judged in a moment and a windowed tray makes it easy to misjudge. Mouse and touchscreen both work. 1. Spot two pieces showing the same cake.
2. Trace the route between them, remembering it may turn at right angles twice and no more.
3. Click both to clear the pair and open the lanes it was occupying.
4. Empty the tray before the clock stops, and the faster you finish the more the level is worth.

• Keep the border thin — routes that leave the tray and come back are what make distant pairs legal at all.
• Clear inward — take the edges first and the dense middle opens by itself.
• Do not stall on a hard pair — extra points go to quick completions, so bank three easy matches and return to it.
• Look for adjacent twins — two identical cakes side by side always connect, whatever else is on the tray.
• Use full screen for the routes — the icing on similar pastries reads alike at window size.
