Mahjong Connect 2

Mahjong Connect 2 sets its board in ancient China and drops the stacking entirely. Tiles sit side by side in one layer, and instead of asking whether a piece is buried, the game asks whether a line can reach it: straight, or with no more than two bends, and never crossing another tile on the way.

That single rule rewrites the whole tactical picture. A pair sitting in the middle of a solid block is unreachable however identical the faces are, so the real work is opening corridors. Every removal punches a gap that a later line can travel through, which means the order of your matches matters more than the number of them. The Kitchen grid runs the connect rule on its own artwork.

Time limits are strict here, and they punish the wrong instinct. Standing still to plan a perfect chain is more expensive than taking a good pair now and re-reading the board after the gap appears. Hint and shuffle are both on hand — the hint surfaces one reachable pair, the shuffle redistributes the tiles when nothing is reachable at all — and neither will give back the seconds you spent deciding. Full screen changes the experience of this one specifically, because a two-bend path across a wide board is hard to trace in a small frame. Enlarged, you can see the whole corridor before committing to the click. The board also plays on mobile, where tapping a tile and then its partner is enough to make the connection.

Clearing everything before the clock stops is the win condition, and on the denser layouts that is a matter of keeping the middle open rather than tidying the edges. Two turns and nothing in the way is also the rule in the Remix grid.

1. Find two tiles with the same face somewhere on the single-layer board.
2. Trace the route between them: it must be straight or turn at most twice, and it cannot pass through any tile that is still in place.
3. Click both tiles to remove the pair and open a new corridor for later moves.
4. Keep clearing before the time limit expires, prioritising pairs that unblock the crowded centre.
5. Take a hint when nothing looks reachable, and shuffle only when the board has no legal connection left.

• Open the middle early — a gap in the centre of the block gives later lines somewhere to turn.
• Count the bends before clicking — three corners means the pair is not connectable yet, whatever it looks like.
• Trade perfection for tempo — the clock in Mahjong Connect 2 is strict, and a decent pair taken now beats a great one found too late.
• Use the hint as a scan — it points at a reachable pair, which also tells you where the board has room.
• Play in full screen — following a two-bend path across a wide layout is far easier when the tiles are large.
