Jewel Quest
The Maya and Aztec swap puzzle where the goal is not the jewels at all, but turning every square of the board to gold.

This game could not be started.
It is a classic Flash game played through the Ruffle emulator, and it did not load in your browser this time.
More games like thisJewel Quest is a swapping puzzle set among Maya and Aztec ruins, and its twist is what you are actually chasing. Lining up three or more of the same jewel removes them, but the objective sits underneath: the square each match happens on turns to gold, and the board is only finished when every square has been converted. That means a match in an already-golden corner is a wasted move.

A move is a swap between a jewel and the piece next to it, and it only holds if the exchange produces a run of three or more. From there the board cascades, which is where the strategy lives — a match near the bottom drops new jewels through the columns above it and can gild several squares at once. Nothing is timing you, so the order of your swaps can be planned. Also under this heading: Tile Connect – Pair Matching.
This one is a Flash game from the 2000s, and it runs on this page through the Ruffle emulator rather than in its original player. That is worth knowing: sound and speed can behave differently, some effects render imperfectly, and full screen may not engage as it would on a modern build. What the emulator does deliver is the game itself, still playable.
Treat it as a colouring problem rather than a scoring one: find the grey squares, then find the swap that lands a match on them.
Controls
Mouse on desktop. The original Flash build was made for a pointer rather than a touchscreen.
How to Play
- Look at the board for squares that have not yet turned gold — those are your real targets.
- Swap a jewel with the piece beside it so that three or more identical jewels line up over a grey square.
- Let the cascade resolve, since the jewels falling in can create further matches and gild more squares.
- Keep converting until every square on the board is gold.
Tips & Tricks
- Chase grey, not points — a match on a square that is already gold does nothing for finishing the Jewel Quest board.
- Set up cascades — matching low in a column drops fresh jewels through it and often gilds squares you were not aiming at.
- Work the awkward corners first — edges have fewer possible swaps, so leaving them until last can strand you.
- Take your time — with no time limit running, tracing the consequences of a swap costs you nothing.
- Enlarge the emulated stage — full screen is unreliable under Ruffle, so zoom the browser if the jewels read too small.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the goal in Jewel Quest?
To turn every square of the board to gold. Matching jewels is the method, but the gilded squares are what finish the level.
How do I make a match in Jewel Quest?
Swap a jewel with an adjacent one so that three or more of the same kind line up. If the swap does not create a run, it does not stick.
Is Jewel Quest timed?
No. The build here has no time limit, so a board can be planned move by move.
Why does Jewel Quest behave oddly on this page?
It is a Flash game running through an emulator. Audio, speed and full screen can all differ from the original player.
Can I play Jewel Quest on a phone?
It is not built for touch. The original was made for a mouse, and the emulated version keeps that expectation.
