Tile Mahjong

Tile Mahjong is RedFoc’s 2025 take on the connect board, drawn tall at 720 by 1080 and built first for a touchscreen. Every tile carries a symbol, and matching symbols leave in pairs.

The restriction the studio leans on is the open-tile rule: only tiles that are open can be connected, so a symbol boxed in by its neighbours is off limits until one of them goes. That is what stops the board being a plain matching exercise. Pyramid Mahjong keeps the layered board and changes the shape.

No clock runs. With hints and a shuffle available and nothing counting down, the pressure comes from the layout itself, since the levels tighten as you advance and a badly ordered run of matches can strand the last few symbols. From the same group, there is also the Dimensions block.

Portrait framing means the board sits naturally under a thumb on a phone, and it is the one thing that argues for full screen on a desktop, where a 720-by-1080 column otherwise occupies very little of a wide monitor. The same discipline about buried tiles applies in the Grand Fruit Connect board.

Controls

Touchscreen; a mouse click works the same way.

How to Play

  1. Find two tiles with the same symbol.
  2. Confirm both are open rather than boxed in by neighbours.
  3. Tap or click each in turn to remove the pair.
  4. Use a hint or the shuffle when the open tiles no longer match.
  5. Clear the board to finish the level.

Tips & Tricks

  • Open tiles only — in Tile Mahjong a matching symbol that is boxed in cannot be taken, so free it before you hunt for its twin.
  • Work from the outside — in a tall portrait grid the top and bottom rows open up fastest.
  • No clock means order matters — with nothing counting down, the mistake to avoid is a sequence that strands the final pair.
  • Shuffle rather than guess — when only blocked symbols remain, the redeal is the intended way out.
  • Full screen on a desktop — a 720-by-1080 board is a narrow strip inside a browser window.
