Valentines Love Link

Valentines Love Link fills the board with hearts, roses, chocolates and other love symbols, then times you while you pair them off. A join is legal when the line between two matching items turns no more than twice, so a route may run across, down and across again, but a fourth leg is one too many.

Lof Games counts out 48 levels, and a clock runs on each of them. A level closes only once every tile has been collected, so leaving one stray pair of chocolates in opposite corners is how a promising run tends to die. The romantic theme is not just decoration either: roses and sweets read alike at a glance, which makes scanning for a twin a matter of colour as much as shape.

Because that clock is always ticking, the habit worth building is to bank the pairs on the outer rim first, since those have the most room for a two-turn path. A match buried among other tiles may need the board to thin out before any legal line exists at all. Valentines Love Link runs at 1280 by 720 and takes taps as readily as clicks.

1. Pick out two matching Valentines items — the same heart, the same rose, the same box of chocolates.
2. Check the route between them: the connecting line may turn twice, no more.
3. Click one, then the other, to take the pair off the board.
4. Collect every tile before the level clock runs out, and press on towards level 48.

• Work the rim first — pairs on the outside edge nearly always have a two-turn path, so bank them while the clock is young.
• Learn the sweets apart — roses and chocolate boxes read alike at a glance, and a mis-click costs seconds you will want later.
• Finish what you open — a level ends only when every tile is collected, so avoid stranding one lonely heart in a corner.
• Look for the third leg — when two love symbols sit diagonally apart, the legal line usually goes across, down, then across again.
