Pride Mahjong

Nothing about Pride Mahjong works like a link board: tiles here are destroyed in threes rather than joined in pairs.

Each one carries a food picture, and finding three identical pictures removes them from play. The layout is the second surprise — bestphysics places the pieces on what it calls a special form, which holds seven tiles at a time, so the working set is small and every choice sits in plain view instead of buried under a hundred spares. That makes this a game of reading the whole form at once rather than hunting a loose edge tile. A second stacked layout here is the Street Cafe pile.

Three types of bonuses are provided to make the board easier, and they are worth hoarding. The build runs at 1280 by 720 and is marked mobile-ready, so the seven-tile form stays large on a desktop monitor and still fits a tablet in landscape. Newcomers tend to spend a bonus on the first slow moment, then have nothing left when the food pictures genuinely stop coming in threes. 1. Look over the food tiles arranged on the special form.
2. Pick out three that show the same picture.
3. Select all three to destroy them and open the space beneath.
4. Reach for one of the three bonus types only when the form has genuinely stalled.

• Think in threes — Pride Mahjong destroys a trio, so a matched pair on its own achieves nothing.
• Seven is the ceiling — the special form holds seven tiles at a time, and that is the number to plan around.
