Match Solitaire

Match Solitaire deals cards rather than tiles. Columns of playing cards sit face up, and they clear when you pair two of the same value, with each removal exposing whatever stood behind it in the column.

The free cells are what make it a thinking game. A card you cannot use yet can be parked in one while you dig out the column beneath it, and mismanaging those slots is the usual way a deal goes wrong. For one more pile of the same kind, see Triple Mahjong.

FreeGames.org counts more than ten million deals, each one guaranteed to be winnable, so a stalled board is a planning error rather than bad luck. Daily challenges and team events sit alongside the main pile for players who want a fixed target. The Kris board sits one row away in the same list.

Nothing counts down while you think. The 2020 build renders at 1920 by 1080, which is why full screen suits it: at window size the cards deep in a column get small, and their value is the one detail you have to read. Triple 2 uses the matching rule on a differently drawn set.

1. Pick a deal from the menu.
2. Find two exposed cards of the same value and take them as a pair.
3. Park an awkward card in a free cell to reach the card behind it.
4. Work one column at a time so the free cells stay available.
5. Keep clearing until the columns are empty.

• Treat free cells as loans — every card parked in Match Solitaire is one fewer slot for the card you will actually need later.
• Empty one column at a time — a finished column removes a whole branch of the deal and usually frees several values at once.
• Trust the deal — the pile is drawn from guaranteed-winnable puzzles, so when you stall the answer is on the board rather than in the shuffle.
• Use the daily challenge — it sets one fixed deal, which is a fairer measure of whether you are improving.
• Full screen for the deep columns — at 1920 by 1080 the lower cards are cramped in a window, and value is all that matters.
