Petzoong

Petzoong is a pair-matching board built on cartoon animals, with more animals painted into the forest background behind them. The rule is the connect variety: two identical creatures come off the board when a path of no more than two turns can be drawn between them. From the same group, there is also the Jewel Quest layout.

No clock runs. That absence shapes how the board plays — with nothing counting down, the sensible approach is to clear the edges first and only then work into the centre, because open outer space is what makes long routes legal later. A hint is there for a stalled board, but on an untimed layout it is rarely necessary; the answer is usually a slow second pass. The same section of the catalogue also holds the Word board.

The animal faces are drawn in a soft cartoon style over a background of the same palette, which is the one real difficulty — the tiles blend into their own backdrop, and full screen separates figure from ground far better than a window does. 1. Pick out two tiles showing the same cartoon animal from the Petzoong set.
2. Check that a path with no more than two turns joins the two animals.
3. Select both creatures and the matched pair leaves the Petzoong board.
4. Open the edges first to keep the long routes available.
5. Clear every pair to pass the level.
