School Mahjong Deluxe trades the traditional suits for the contents of a satchel — pencils, rulers, globes, exercise books — and simplifies the classic stack behind them. Lof Games put it out in 2019 as a lighter take rather than a full-sized solitaire wall.
Selection follows one clear condition: a pair can be eliminated only when both tiles have at least two adjacent sides open. A ruler boxed in on three sides waits, however plainly its twin sits two rows away, and any tile lying on top has to go before the one beneath it becomes legal. The Cats pile piles the tiles into a different silhouette.
There is no clock. Clearing every tile advances you to the next level, and the pressure is entirely self-imposed, so a half-solved desk can be left on screen and picked up again. The board is drawn for desktop monitors and for phones. The The Key pile uses the matching rule on a differently drawn set.
Full screen is the practical setting, because the stationery art is fine-lined and two exercise books can look identical at window size. Players who clear the tempting middle first usually stall; opening the upper layers early keeps far more of the desk in play. The Crystal Hexajong pile asks the same question of a taller pile.

- Select the pair to eliminate it and free whatever it was blocking.

Tips & Tricks
- Read the sides, not the picture — in School Mahjong Deluxe a matching pencil is useless while three of its sides are blocked.
- Unstack before you empty — tiles resting on others hide the items the endgame needs.
- Take the time you are given — nothing counts down, so a full scan costs you only patience.
- Enlarge the desk — full screen separates two similar notebooks that blur into one shape in a window.
- Leave symmetrical pairs late — matching them early often locks the mirrored side of the arrangement.
