Fruit Mahjong

The twist in Fruit Mahjong is motion. Its tiles flip to reveal their sides, so the face you are looking at now is not necessarily the face that will be there when you come back to it, and matching therefore carries a timing element that a static layout never has.

The rest follows the standard pattern: identical tiles are removed in pairs, and a piece has to be reachable before it can go. What changes is that a pair spotted early can dissolve while you hunt for its partner, and a tile you dismissed can turn into exactly what you need. Every level is timed, which sharpens that pressure. Hints and a shuffle are provided for boards that lock, though on a flipping layout the situation often resolves itself, and waiting a beat is sometimes better than spending a hint. Fruit artwork keeps the faces bright and distinct, the HTML5 build runs on phones, tablets and desktop machines, and full screen is the recommended setting because tracking flipping tiles in a small window is genuinely harder. The Christmas layout is filed under the same heading here.

1. Watch the tiles as they flip and note which fruit each one is currently showing.
2. Select two identical faces that are open and clear them from the board.
3. Act on a match as soon as you see it, before either tile turns over again.
4. Empty the board within the level time limit, using a hint or a shuffle if you stall.

• Commit quickly — a Fruit Mahjong pair can vanish mid-thought when one of the two tiles flips over.
• Memorise positions, not faces — remembering where a pineapple keeps appearing beats remembering the whole board.
• Wait out a locked board — the next flip may open a match without costing you a shuffle.
• Clear covering tiles first — a flipping tile you cannot reach is no use whichever side it shows.
• Use full screen — tracking movement across the layout is much easier at full size.
