Halloween Lines Saga

Halloween Lines Saga borrows nothing from tile pairing. It is the old lines puzzle in fancy dress: pumpkins, ghosts and bats keep arriving on the board, and the only way to remove them is to arrange five or more of one type in a straight run, across, down or on the diagonal. The pressure comes from the board filling. Every move you make brings fresh items in, so a run that takes four moves to assemble costs you four new arrivals, and defeat means letting the grid pack solid. Three helpers cut into that: Undo takes back a move, Sword removes what is in the way, and Potion changes the item in front of you. A Gift button opens a Lucky Wheel for bonus items, and returning on a new day earns another spin. The 25 December board dresses the board for another time of year.

Scores feed a leaderboard, so this board is played for a high total rather than for a finish. Another seasonal board here is the Mojicon Love Connect layout.

1. Pick up a Halloween item and move it to an empty square along a clear path.
2. Assemble five or more of the same item in a row, a column or a diagonal to destroy them.
3. Deal with the new items that arrive after every move before they crowd the grid.
4. Spend Undo, Sword or Potion when a corner of the board locks solid.

• Build near the edges — a run assembled along the rim of Halloween Lines Saga leaves the middle open for the items still arriving.
• Keep the centre clear — the middle squares are the routes everything travels through, and a pumpkin parked there blocks half the board.
• Save the Sword — Undo fixes a bad move, but only the Sword rescues a grid that has already packed itself solid.
• Spin the Gift daily — the Lucky Wheel hands out bonus items, and each new day adds another spin to draw on.
