Lof Games changed the arithmetic in 2019. Tiles leave this board in threes rather than twos, so a matching pair is only two thirds of a move and the third copy has to be available at the same moment. Anyone arriving from an ordinary connect board spends the first level relearning what counts as progress.
Availability is strict as well: a tile needs at least two open sides before it can be part of a set. Combine that with the requirement for three simultaneous matches and a festive board can look generous while offering almost nothing, since the third copy of the design you want is usually the one hemmed in. Eighteen levels run against a clock, and hints are provided for the boards where the third tile refuses to appear. A shuffle reorders what is left when the board has locked, which happens more readily here than on a two-tile field because the failure condition is a missing third rather than a missing pair. Tips & Tricks
- Count to three, not two — a visible pair is worthless until the third copy of that design is also open.
- Free the hemmed-in copy — the tile that blocks a set is usually the most valuable removal on the board.
- Check both open sides — one free edge is not enough here, and that catches out players used to the classical rule.
- Use hints on incomplete sets — they are most valuable when you can see two of a design and cannot place the third.
- Enlarge the board — full screen separates the festive ornaments, which is where a set gets miscounted at default size.
