Winter Tiles

Collection is the framing in Winter Tiles: pairs of identical winter pictures are not so much removed as gathered, and a level ends when the set is complete. The full Christmas list is where the rest of these boards live.

The route rule is the standard link one, a clear path between the two tiles with no more than two turns, but the time limit is doing the real work. Progress to the next level depends on collecting everything before the clock runs down, so a board half cleared at the buzzer counts for nothing, and the temptation to hunt one stubborn pair is the trap Lof Games sets. The line between two tiles decides the match in the Bug Connect board as well.

The set is drawn for a wide 1280 by 720 frame, and a tap works in place of a click, which helps on a grid this size when two snowy pictures differ only in detail. Mojicon Winter Connect joins this one on the Christmas shelf.

1. Pick out two identical winter tiles on the grid.
2. Check the path between them is clear and turns twice at most, then click or tap each in turn.
3. Collect every tile in the set before the time limit on the level expires.
4. Finish inside the clock to advance to the next level.

• Sweep in a fixed pattern — scanning Winter Tiles the same way each time finds pairs faster than random hunting when the clock is short.
• Abandon the stubborn pair — the level only advances when the whole set is collected in time, so a pair that resists is worth leaving for later.
• Thin the middle early — central tiles need the longest routes, and two turns is not many once the grid is crowded.
• Take the wide view — the 1280 by 720 frame spreads the winter set out, and a maximised window saves the scrolling glance.
