Sports Mahjong replaces bamboo and characters with balls, boots, whistles and medals, and keeps the pair-matching core of a stacked tile board. Its selling point is volume: over forty distinct layouts sit behind the theme, so the shape of the board changes long before the rules do.

Three difficulty settings sit on top of that. The same sporting tiles can be dealt as a light arrangement or as a packed one, and that choice is the main lever on how long a run lasts. Clearing is straightforward — select a tile, find its twin, and both leave the board. Freeing the lower rows early matters in the Classic board as well.

Hints and a shuffle are on hand when an arrangement locks up, and both deserve rationing: a hint spent on an obvious pair is one you will want back on the hardest of the forty layouts. The board answers a click and a tap equally well, on a desktop monitor or a phone. Pairs leave the stack the same way in The Mah-Jongg Key.

Full screen is where the sports art becomes legible, because a football and a volleyball are close relatives at window size and matching them wrongly wastes moves. The habit worth building is to strip the top layers first, since every tile removed in Sports Mahjong exposes another that had been sealed. The Diamond Solitaire pile piles the tiles into a different silhouette.

How to Play

Choose one of the three difficulty settings and let a sporting layout deal.
Click or tap a free tile to select it.
Find the tile carrying the same sporting image and select it to remove the pair.
Repeat until the layout is empty, calling a hint or a shuffle if nothing legal remains.

Tips & Tricks

Start on the easiest setting — the layouts in Sports Mahjong are numerous enough that learning them matters more than the difficulty badge.
Work the roof down — a covered tile is out of play no matter how obvious its partner is.
Group by sport, not by colour — several balls share a palette and differ only in the panelling.
Ration the shuffle — it rescues a dead arrangement, and the packed layouts are where you will need it.
Go full screen before a hard layout, where the tiles are smaller and the misreads multiply.
