Mahjong Impossible earns its name in the arrangement of the stones: CMC Online s.r.o. packed them so tightly that removing every last one is a rare occurrence rather than the expected finish. The realistic aim is a high score, built from as many legal pairs as the stack will surrender.
Every move has to be weighed before it is made. Two matching stones may both be free, yet taking them can bury the only way into a column you will need ten pairs later. That is the tension the layout is built on: it rewards three moves of forethought and punishes reflex clicking far harder than an ordinary solitaire wall. The Solitaire board uses the matching rule on a differently drawn set.
Nothing counts down while you think. The 2019 build carries no time limit, so a locked position can be studied at length and the score is the only thing applying pressure. Stones answer a mouse, a touchpad or a fingertip, and the layout is drawn for phone screens as well as desktop ones.
