10 Mahjong

10 Mahjong keeps the tile board and throws out its central rule. Nothing here matches by picture: every tile carries a number, and a pair only clears when the two numbers add up to ten. A four looks for a six, a seven looks for a three, and the tile that looks identical to the one beside it is usually worthless. The Titans board keeps the layered board and changes the shape.

That arithmetic changes how a layout behaves. Open tiles have to be scanned as a set of complements rather than as a set of twins, and a board thick with eights will stall until the twos surface. Fifteen levels follow, each with its own arrangement, and the clock is not decorative: twenty minutes is the whole allowance for a run, which turns hesitation into a real cost. The Super Mario board uses the matching rule on a differently drawn set.

A hint and a shuffle are available when the sums stop working out, and both are worth rationing. The 2020 release is a Flash-era build made for desktop browsers and driven entirely with the mouse, and full screen is the sensible way to read it, since the numbers are printed small and one misread six ends a pairing. No account stands between the page and the first level. Freeing the lower rows early matters in the Farm pile as well.

1. Scan the open tiles for two numbers that total ten — nine with one, five with five, eight with two.
2. Click the first tile and then its complement to take both off the board.
3. Work through the layout until every number has been paired away.
4. Finish inside the twenty-minute allowance to reach the next of the fifteen arrangements.

• Count, do not compare — matching two identical faces is the habit to unlearn in 10 Mahjong.
• Lift the upper layers early — the buried numbers are the ones your sums keep needing.
• Watch the fives — a five can only be answered by another five, so an odd count of exposed fives leaves one stranded.
• Spend hints late — they cost score, and the twenty-minute clock hurts most in the closing levels.
